I am working my way through this book. The fifth edition suffers from some serious editing issues. Additionally, the book is not structured to teach anybody who is not already familiar with Spring. The annotations get very little explanation. The author essentially provides an example and tells you what it does, but not how each annotation contributes. It leaves the implementation of annotations very unclear, and requires a great deal of research and meditation that an instructional book should not.

I have read this book. I was glad at the end that I found it.

Spring in Action covers all the important concepts like the request flow in Dispatcher Servlet, Thymeleaf, Caching, JPA etc. All the annotation-based programming is done in a planned flow and little projects are nice. I will recommend this to everyone having time and patience to go over a good read and find themselves in a very strong position once done.

We selected this book as the choice for a company study group. The book is awful. We dropped it 3 chapters in. There were too may errors and missing pieces to make it flow logically. It feels as if this edition was rushed out. I can not recommend it.
